As a pre-show activity before Secutech Thailand, Messe Frankfurt and its Thailand partner, Worldex G.E.C., organized an online business matching session from 25 – 29 May 2020. The goal is to connect Thailand and ASEAN countries with major Zhejiang personal protective equipment (PPE) suppliers to help with the demand of PPE during the epidemic.

Thailand's new cases of COVID-19 coronavirus are becoming more alarming with new cases being confirmed each day and the cumulative number of confirmed cases rising. In the face of a violent global epidemic, the demand for medical supplies such as masks, protective clothing, face masks, gloves and thermometers are rising, this phenomenon is also happening in Thailand.

Supporting PPE demands with online business matching

In order to help the countries in the region to fight the epidemic, Messe Frankfurt and Worldex organized a pre-show online event before Secutech Thailand begins in November called the Zhejiang Export Online Fair (Thailand) of Personal Protective Equipment Products. Supported by the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province, in conjunction with Zhejiang's Epidemic Prevention Supplies and Medical Rescue Supplies manufacturers, the online event was held from 25 – 29 May 2020 using Zoom Video Communication.

The event connected Zhejiang suppliers with Thailand and its neighboring countries by offering helpful information on available PPE. This aimed to provide online business matchmaking opportunities for relevant institutions and trade demanders in Thailand and Zhejiang export-oriented enterprises through accurate offline matching and online live chat. More than 100 Thai procurement enterprises including Schake (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Pacific Healthcare (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and Berli Jucker Public Co. Ltd. will participate in the fair. The platform allows both buyers and suppliers to accurately provide and receive the epidemic prevention product information without leaving their homes. During the five days, trade negotiations made more than 150 sessions and the intent of the transaction was expected to exceed USD 5 million.

More than 50 Zhejiang companies have signed up for online exhibitions to support the efforts in fighting the epidemic in Thailand such as Zhejiang Orient Gene Biotech Co., Ltd, Quzhou Incan Co., Ltd, and Wenzhou Dongyi Optical Co., Ltd. Companies covered a full range of medical personal epidemic prevention supplies including thermometers, protective clothing, antibacterial, and anti-virus fabrics, mask production machines, etc. The supplier provided related product certifications and qualifications to prove that all the products are covered with good quality.

During these difficult times, we hope the event will bring a positive business relationship between Thailand and Zhejiang in order to help Thailand effectively respond to the epidemic.
